Zadar
The vibrant city of Zadar is less than 20 minutes away by car and can be reached by public transport. This historic city offers a rich blend of culture, sightseeing, beaches, and exciting activities.
The beautiful and bustling old town is a highlight of any tour of Zadar. Buildings and structures from various eras take visitors on a visual journey through time, from the Roman period to the modern day. Sightseeing enthusiasts will find numerous churches, cathedrals, and historic landmarks, such as the old city walls, gates, and the Forte Fortress. For those interested in culture, there are various museums and galleries. Music and cultural events are held throughout the year, providing entertainment for all tastes.
One unique experience is the Sea Organ, a musical instrument played by the sea’s waves. Along the promenade, 35 vertical organ pipes are built into the ground. Waves push water into these pipes, creating sounds and melodies through changing air pressure. In the evening, the Monument to the Sun is a popular spot. Here, a multi-layered glass plate in the ground lights up, creating a stunning light show that beautifully complements the sunset. For night owls, Zadar is a top hotspot. Its vibrant nightlife, with many clubs, bars, and lounges, is a must-visit and ranks among the best in the country. Dive in and experience unforgettable nights in Zadar.
National Parks
Paklenica National Park
Paklenica National Park is a 40-minute drive inland. Film enthusiasts might recognise it from the Winnetou movies, as the park served as a primary filming location. In honour of this, annual events celebrate the films and the famous literary character. The park’s landscape features steep cliffs, deep gorges, impressive caves, and dense pine forests. For active holidaymakers, there are beautiful hiking trails, cycling paths, and climbing routes, allowing you to explore and admire the park’s unique natural beauty.
Krka National Park
The famous seven waterfalls are the main attraction of Krka National Park. After a 50-minute drive, you can experience these natural wonders, which are among the most beautiful waterfalls in Europe. The park is best explored on foot. Along the picturesque river landscape, you will also find numerous ruins of former fortresses. These make for extraordinary photo opportunities from various viewpoints, ensuring standout memories in any photo album.
Boat Trips
A JEWEL FOR NATURE LOVERS
The offshore island world of Kornati National Park is a true gem for nature lovers and active holidaymakers. Divers, snorkelers, hikers, and boaters will all find their paradise here. The park’s most spectacular feature is its breathtaking landscape, especially the steep cliffs that drop into the sea, known as the “crowns.” Additionally, you can explore ruins from the Illyrian period, a fortress from the 6th century, and the typical dry-stone walls of the islands.
If you prefer to dive into the fascinating underwater world, this is the place for you. However, keep in mind that diving in the area is only permitted in organised groups and designated zones. Snorkelling, on the other hand, is allowed everywhere and for everyone.
In the marinas of Bibinje and Zadar, you will find numerous options to book guided tours or charter boats for your excursion into the national park.
